International Meetings Skills: Personal Effectiveness, Image and Presentation

Frontline Training Solution's International Meetings Skills workshop has been specially designed and developed in conjunction with the Dutch Central Bank in order to help its international banking specialists achieve two main objectives: to influence more effectively decision-making processes at international meetings and to develop sustainable relationships and solutions towards mutual benefit. This successful and innovative format, now being used throughout the European System of Central Banks (ESCB), can be adapted to serve the needs of any organisation that needs to make key decisions through meetings and networking with organisations from other countries.

Over three and a half days, participants will explore and practise key aspects of influencing others at international meetings. In addition to learning how to make their point more effectively in a formal setting, they will also develop networking skills for off-line meetings. Central to this process is the use of interactive games, role-plays and feedback sessions to develop a deeper understanding of personal preferences and reactions. This process will reveal how the participants' communicative style and behaviour come across and will help them to identify and optimise opportunities to influence others.

Participants must bring their own example of an unresolved issue or difficulty they have with a specific individual or type of person who they encounter during their attendance at international meetings. Through the watchful attention of leading role-play specialists they will learn to develop new approaches to handling people and situations. A typical scene is re-created with their chosen individual character, and with fresh insights, they explore what can go wrong and how to deal with it next time.

By the end of the workshop participants will be stronger in two fundamental areas: a) rapport and networking skills, for use informally outside the meeting when seeking to position their argument, persuade and build alliances; b) getting their point across formally during an international meeting with authority, conviction and confidence.

Presentation Skills Training

There are three types of training offered: standard presentation skills, concentrating on self-discipline and structure; advanced presentation skills, concentrating on managing the audience's expectations and establishing a strong connection with the audience; and presentation skills for teachers, concentrating on handling difficult people and situations and helping students to understand and retain more. All three workshops use games, role-plays and interactive exercises as the primary means of learning.

Each workshop lasts two days and is conducted in English.

Clients include the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (Amsterdam) and Deloitte and Touche (Prague).

Negotiation Training

Negotiation workshops are adjusted to fit the existing skills and experience of the group and to provide real challenge. The workshops offer points of reference through widely accepted theories on negotiation, followed by extensive practise and feedback from both trainer and fellow participants. Particular attention is paid to managing oneself and one's responses during negotiation and maximising individual power.

Clients include the University of Essex and the University of Nijmegen.

Cross-Cultural Communication Training

The cross-cultural training offered by Frontline focuses on developing confidence and eliminating uncertainty when dealing with specific cultures by offering practise in relevant behavioural models. Using experienced inter-cultural specialists, the workshops address individual problems and concerns as well as promoting your organisation's own preferred approach to managing clients from other cultures.

Clients include the Dutch Central Bank.

Amongst its range of communications skills training workshops and coaching programmes in presentation, negotiation and cross-cultural communication, Frontline is keen to promote specifically it's International Meetings Skills Workshop in China. This innovative and imaginative workshop has been developed in conjunction with the Dutch Central Bank, through whom it is offered to all the central banks within the European Union.

The workshop has two principle aims: to help key personnel make their point effectively at international meetings, and to maintain good relationships whilst doing so. This is achieved through a series of specially created exercises, games and role-plays using professional actors, which together create a parallel world in which international professionals may practise their communication skills, test their behaviour and receive objective feedback from their fellow participants.
