The International Meetings Skills Workshop

Frontline Training Solutions, in partnership with the Training Department of the Dutch Central Bank, has produced an exciting and highly interactive workshop called IMS (International Meetings Skills).

Workshop Objectives:

To encourage and develop a strategic approach to making one's point at meetings and influencing the final decision.

To contribute and develop towards a sustainable consensus in which one emerges with integrity and professionalism.

To increase effectiveness at managing relationships across cultures.

To provide the tools, awareness and practice necessary to perform these objectives effectively.

The workshop advances the skills necessary to contribute effectively at meetings where a number of parties compete to have their interests included in the final decision.

The areas covered include:

  • Structuring and delivery for effective presentation at meetings
  • Influence and Persuasion
  • Effective English for meetings
  • Argumentation
  • Networking
  • Flexibility
  • Strategy
  • Creative Solutions
  • Working across cultures
  • Rapport building
  • Defending a vulnerable position
  • Timing interventions
  • Handling Questions

The central bank version of the workshop is offered through the Dutch Central Bank to all the central banks with the European System of Central Banks (ESCB). However the workshop can be adapted to address the challenges the personnel of any large organisation have when competing for resources and striving to achieve a sustainable decision.

IMS has proved as popular as it is effective. Here are some of the comments it generated from past delegates:

"Very interesting and educational course. Not a single dull moment! Perfect balance between practice and theory. It can serve very well as an eye-opener for one's own behaviour."
Willem Bovenschen - Dutch Central Bank, Lawyer – Legal Department

"Especially those parts of the course where the facilitators brought in their acting capabilities were completely new to me and made me see aspects of a meeting from a different angle. Would recommend it to my colleagues and make also a positive report to our HR department."

"I think it is really very helpful because it is practise + reflection on the many aspects at international meetings or at negotiations."
